2026 Trek Expectations

Dear Parents,

Trek is a unique opportunity to step away from the busyness of life and walk in the footsteps of the early Saints. We ask each youth to come spiritually prepared with a willing heart, ready to feel the Spirit and strengthen their testimony of Jesus Christ. Throughout the four days, devotionals, testimonies, and spiritual discussions will be an important part of the experience, and we encourage everyone to participate fully and respectfully.

Because Trek is both a physical and spiritual journey, attitude and conduct matter. Kindness, teamwork, and respect for leaders and fellow youth will help create the spirit of unity we’re striving for. Trek is also a chance to disconnect, so phones and electronic devices will be left behind, allowing everyone to focus on the purpose of the journey and build deeper connections.

Modest, pioneer-style clothing will be worn during Trek, and sturdy shoes are required for walking and pulling handcarts. Sunscreen, and water bottles are essential for safety in the Arizona sun, and only items from the approved packing list should be brought since space is limited. Leaders will provide detailed clothing and gear guidelines well before the event so everyone can be properly prepared.

Health and safety will be a priority for all participants. Staying hydrated, eating regularly, and following the guidance of leaders will help prevent issues along the way. Any health concerns should be communicated to leaders ahead of time, and youth are expected to remain with their Trek family at all times. Remember, no one pulls a handcart alone, this journey is about supporting each other and finding strength together.

Above all, we invite each youth to come with an open heart and a positive attitude. Trek will bring moments of hard work and fatigue, but also laughter, songs, and the joy of shared sacrifice. With faith, teamwork, and a desire to grow, this experience will strengthen testimonies, build lasting friendships, and create memories that will stay with you for years to come.

Sincerely,

Phoenix Arizona Thunderbird Park Stake
